Summary: Auris is designed with privacy in mind. Your music library stays on your device, and we don't collect any personal information. Optional integrations (Last.fm, Discord) only share music metadata when you enable them.
Information We Collect
Auris does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. Specifically:
- We do not collect your name, email, or any identifying information
- We do not track your usage or listening habits
- We do not use analytics or telemetry services
- Your music library data remains entirely on your local device
Local Data Storage
Auris stores the following data locally on your device:
- Music Library Database: Metadata about your music files (titles, artists, albums, file paths) stored in a local SQLite database
- Playlists: Your custom playlists and their track listings
- Settings: Your app preferences (equalizer settings, audio configuration, etc.)
- Listening History: Play counts and last played dates (stored locally only)
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use one of the optional integrations described below.
Optional Third-Party Integrations
Auris offers optional integrations that, when enabled by you, may share music metadata with third-party services:
Last.fm
When you enable Last.fm scrobbling and log in with your Last.fm account:
- Track metadata (artist, title, album name) is sent to Last.fm when you play songs
- Your Last.fm username is stored locally to maintain your session
- No other information is shared with Last.fm
Last.fm has its own privacy policy: last.fm/legal/privacy
Discord Rich Presence
When you enable Discord Rich Presence:
- The currently playing track's artist and title are shared with Discord
- This information appears on your Discord profile as "Now Playing"
- No other information is shared with Discord
Lyrics
When viewing lyrics for a track:
- The track's artist and title are sent to online lyrics providers to fetch matching lyrics
- No personal information is included in these requests
AutoEQ
When using the AutoEQ feature:
- Equalizer presets are downloaded from GitHub's AutoEQ repository
- No personal information is sent; only the headphone model name you search for
Data Security
All data stored by Auris remains on your local device and is protected by your operating system's security measures. We do not have access to your data, and it is never transmitted to our servers (we don't have any servers).
Children's Privacy
Auris does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is safe for users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
